Abstract
The data set comprises data from a representative empirical survey, in which the investment behaviour of private individuals (homeowners) in PV battery systems was investigated. A combination of questionnaire and Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE) was chosen. The DCE differentiated between persons who already own a PV system but no battery storage and persons without a PV system. The DCE was analyzed using Hierarchical Bayes. The values in the DCE Excel sheets are individual (partial) utility values. In addition to investment-relevant factors, data on personal attitudes and barriers to investment were collected.
Technical Information
The raw data of the survey is located in the SPSS dataset (.sav). This was created with IBM SPSS Statistics 20 and can also be opened with R. The Excel dataset (.xlsx) contains the coded data set. The Excel file "CBC Group A Utility Values" contains the attribute importances and individual (partial) utility values from the Discrete Choice Experiment (CBC) of homeowners who have neither a PV system nor battery storage. Accordingly, the levels of the attributes refer to a combined PV battery system. The Excel file "CBC Group B Utility Values" contains the attribute importances and utility values from the Discrete Choice Experiment (CBC = choice based conjoint) of homeowners who already have a PV system but no battery storage. Accordingly, the levels of the attributes only refer to the investment in a battery storage. The homeowners who already own a PV battery system only participated in the questionnaire and not in the DCE.
