dc.description.abstractThe dataset contains albedo and normal image and a 3D triangle mesh with additional features (multi scale integral invariants) for the obverse of medieval coins. There are three different types of coins. Within each typ there are many samples of various state of conservation. Numismatists can recognize similarities between samples of one type and differences between samples of different type. We are interested in the development of computer methods, which can measure such similarities and differences based on these digital representations of the coins.en

dc.description.technicalinformationFolders collect the data of different coin types. The data of one coin comprises multiple files, which share the beginning of the file name (identifier_timestamp). Color images are saved in TIFF format with extension .tif. While _albedo represents the color texture, the RGB-channels of _normal stand for the xyz-coordinates of the normal vectors, where the interval [-1, 1] is linearily mapped to [0, 255]. Triangle meshes are saved in PLY format with extension .ply. A JSON file contains meta information as identifiers for collection and "kenom" online catalogue (https://www.kenom.de/), type and resolution.en
